The loss to PSG saw Lyon fall 13 points behind the runaway league leaders and the chances for a challenge to the Ligue 1 title are all but over. However, Lyon will not feel so hard done, as PSG have in the season been in a class of their own, with nine wins in nine in the league. Lyon should have an easier outing against Nimes, who have not had an easy start to life in the top flight, having managed just two wins in their opening nine matches. However, compared to seasoned Ligue 1 sides, including Monaco, Nimes have done well, having managed 10 points so far. The small issue for them though is the winless run they take to this game, having failed to pick a win in the last seven games, having started life in the top flight on a high, with two wins. After their opening two wins, they have only managed four points from the subsequent seven matches and they will be hoping to bring the poor run to an end when they travel to take on Lyon – a tough task by all measures but for a team that beat Olympique Marseille in the second game, they will have the right script for handling Lyon. They have two clean sheets in their opening nine matches and having picked the latest in the last game before the break, they will be keen to extend that and having won just one away game in the season, that is also an area they will want to improve on, especially as they are on a winless run of four away matches and have no clean sheet in the last five away matches. The loss to PSG burst Lyon’s bubble, having gone to the game on a six match unbeaten run but with 11 home wins in the last 15 matches, Lyon should get their mojo back in this game.
