The battle for places in Europe in Ligue 1 will take a new shape this weekend when Lens and Lyon face off on Sunday. Lyon will play host in this matchday 32 action, going in placed fifth and Lens eighth. Read on for our prediction of this match.

Lyon’s shock at exiting the Europa League was followed by a Ligue 1 defeat at Saint-Etienne. They, however, recovered in their most recent outing to beat Rennes 4-1 at home.

Home matches have largely been fruitful for Lyon, and they will rely on this as they seek to end their recent winless run against Lens. Les Gones are on four straight wins at home in Ligue 1.

For Lens, it has been an underwhelming season, but being unbeaten in three against Lyon offers some hope. At 45 points, they trail Lyon by nine points, with only nine left to play for.

They will miss out on Europe, and Les Sang et Or are coming from a 4-0 loss at home to Auxerre. This was their third defeat in the last five matches, and they failed to score in each of those defeats.

While they managed a 3-1 win against Brest in their last away game, Lens haven't been on a great run on the road either. They lost three times in their last five away Ligue 1 matches.
