Liverpool were top of the Premier League at Christmas with a four point lead. They look to get yet another home win when hosting West Bromwich Albion who are one from bottom in the table. Liverpool have that lead of four points but their goal difference is making that almost five points. It's amazing that they can lose a game 7-2 and still after 14 games have a +17 goal difference. Of course, the 7-0 win at Crystal Palace has a lot to do with the size of their goal difference. Liverpool go into this game unbeaten in ten league games since that big loss to Aston Villa. Home form is full of frightening statistics for away teams. They have won all seven home league games this season and have more goals scored and lowest number conceded. Avoiding defeat in this game will mean they have gone through all of 2018, 2019 and 2020 without a home league defeat. The last eight home league matches have all seen over 2.5 goals scored.

It was in April 2017 that Liverpool last lost a home league game. There have been Anfield defeats in other competitions and one was in 2018 when West Brom beat them in the FA Cup. It was against a weakened Liverpool line-up. New boss Sam Allardyce will be spending Christmas Day dreaming of a win at Anfield. However, he has a tough job on his hands to keep West Brom in the Premier League. They have just seven points and are five points from safety with a vastly inferior goal difference. Only one league game has been won and that was against bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United. In other words, West Brom have not beaten any of the teams above them in the league table. The weekend saw Albion lose 3-0 at home to Aston Villa. That's one point from their last four league matches with 11 goals conceded. Away from home, they have just two points, though one was at Manchester City. It's hard to see anything but a comprehensive Liverpool win unless too much turkey has been consumed over Christmas. Go for a home win with Liverpool ahead at both half and full time.
