Liverpool still top the Premier League but their lead is now only six points and could be less by the time this game begins. They look to maintain their 100% home league record with a win over seventh placed Tottenham. The Reds dropped their first points of the season when drawing at Manchester United last weekend. If Manchester City can beat Aston Villa on Saturday, Liverpool will start this game only three points clear, so the pressure will be on them. Liverpool have won all of their home league games this season and are undfeated in the last 44 Premier League home matches with 18 of the last 19 won.

Tottenham had a welcome 5-0 home win over Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday night. That didn't just boost their Champions League qualification hopes but will have done their confidence the power of good. They needed that win after a run of one win (a home victory over Southampton) in their last seven league and cup matches. Away form has seen them without a league win this season with at least two goals conceded in each match. Since February of this year, Spurs have gone ten away league games without a win, losing eight of them and only twice conceding less than a couple of goals. They may have some confidence after Tuesday's win but their away form needs a lot of improvement. Go for Liverpool to get the home win in this game.
