Liverpool have had a week to remember as they went top of the English Premier League and then clinched qualification for the knock-out stages of the Champions League.  By the time this game begins on Sunday it's likely that Manchester City will have regained top spot but a win over their neighbours will take Liverpool back to the top. They are still unbeaten in the Premier League this season and have won all four of their games since losing at PSG last month. It's 17 games since they last lost in the Premier League and at home they are on an unbeaten run of 28 league games, not losing at Anfield since April 2017. A lot is said about their attack but Liverpool have only conceded one goal in their last 12 home league games.

That's a defensive record that Manchester United would love to have. They've conceded 26 league goals already this season which is only two less than were scored against them in the 2017/18 Premier League season. United are 16 points behind Liverpool and perhaps more worringly eight points off the Champions League places and that could reach double figures if they can't win this game. The win over Fulham last weekend ended a run of four league games without a victory but that was followed by another defeat in the Champions League on Wednesday at Valencia. There's a lack of consistency and too many players performin below par. You fear for United's dodgy defence up against Salah, Firmino etc, go for a home win in this match.
