Liverpool women take on Manchester City women at Prenton Park on Saturday afternoon in a game that will have a big impact at the top of the Women's Super League.  Fourth-placed Liverool have amassed 29 points from their 17 games so far and the Reds are unbeaten in their last five WSL gameswhich includes three wins and two draws in that sequence. Scoring goals has been a problem for the Reds with just 25 scored this season but with just four losses only Man City and Chelsea have lost fewer games in the division so far. Matt Beard's team are eight points adrift of Arsenal in third, but just one ahead of Manchester United in fifth, so they need a win here to ensure they'll stay ahead of the Red Devils in the table.

Their opponents Manchester City though are a very tough prospect to beat. They have won all of their last 11 WSL games and in that run was a 5-1 win over Liverpool when the two teams met in Manchester in January 2024. City's only defeats in that time have come in cup games, losing to Chelsea in the WSL 1-0 and then losing 4-3 on penalties to Spurs in the FA Women's Cup quarterfinal. Since that loss they have put four past Brighton on the road and then won the Manchester derby 3-1 last time out. Jamaican striker Khadija Shaw is the player to watch for City as she has scored 17 goals in just 16 WSL appearances for the Citizens this season.
