Liverpool have made a confident if not spectacular start to the new season. In the Premier League they have drawn at Watford and then had a 1-0 win at home to Crystal Palace at the weekend. Sandwiched in between those two games was the away leg of this Champions League play-off tie with a 2-1 away win at Hoffenheim. They did lead 2-0 until conceding a late goal. Home form for Liverpool is solid with just one loss in their last 14 home Premier League games. Hoffenheim know they have to score at least twice in this game after conceding those two away goals in the home leg. That means they have to come forward more than they'd like and that is likely to leave big gaps at the back that the home side may well take advantage of. The German side beat Werder Bremen at home in the Bundesliga at the weekend but this is their first season in European football and that lack of experience makes this previewer believe the best bet is on a home win in this game.
