Liverpool lost their opening game in this Champions League group but have bounced back with wins over Red Bull Salzburg and Genk. That's taken them to second in the group, a point behind leaders Napoli. A win for Liverpool in this game and defeat for Red Bull in Napoli will all but take the Reds through to the last sixteen. That'll help their fixture crisis once 2020 arrives. Liverpool won the away game against Genk 4-1 even though they didn't look at their best. The defending European champions will fully expect to win this match and then take on Napoli at home in their next fixture as they bid to win the group. Liverpool last lost a home Champions League game five years ago. They have won 11 of their last 14 home games in this competition over the past couple of years.

Genk are bottom of the group and will also be hoping that Red Star lose at Napoli. They trail the third placed team by two points and still have to play them at home, so could yet qualify for the Europa League knock-out stages. The Belgian champions are having a difficult season and are down in seventh in the Jupiler League at the time of writing this preview. They lost 2-0 at Eupen on Saturday and are 13 points behind the league leaders. Their only point earned so far in this group was a home goalless draw with Napoli. Their other two fixtures have seen them concede 10 goals. This is their first Champions League campaign since 2011 and Genk have gone nine games without a win. On their travels, they have only ever had one win and conceded 18 goals in their last three away matches. Liverpool should win this comfortably, go for them to lead at both half and full time.
