Liverpool begin the weekend down in sixth place in the Premier League. They host local rivals Everton who are a place and three points behind them. The Reds are now 16 points behind league leaders Manchester City. That's a position they could never have dreamed when leading the table a couple of months ago. A look at a form guide for the last ten league games explains all. Liverpool have earned 21 points less than City in that time and have the 16th best record with just nine points. They may have won against Leipzig in midweek but they are two points behind the top four and it could be five by the time this game begins. Liverpool have to hope the form shown in Budapest will be carried into this game. Their last three league games have all been lost and home form has slumped with three straight league defeats at Anfield and no wins in five. Another stat not expected a few months ago.

Everton are three points behind Liverpool but have a game in hand. It was two before they lost at home to Mancheste City on Wednesday evening. They lost that one 3-1 and that was their second league loss of the week. Their home form has also collapsed with four defeats in the last five league matches. Away form is better though with four wins in a row before a 3-3 draw at Old Trafford. Everton have a terrible record against their local rivals and haven't won at Anfield since 1999 and not beaten Liverpool since 2010. Liverpool will have got some confidence back from that Champions League win and can beat Everton.
