Burnley had a memorable win over Liverpool at Anfield in their last meeting, breaking a home run of 68 matches unbeaten for the Reds. They will be up for the same when these two face off at Anfield in Week 2 of action. The two had contrasting results in the opening week, with Liverpool thrashing Norwich 3-0 as Burnley lost 2-1 to Brighton. Liverpool are a much stronger side now than they were in the last meeting with Burnley; their main injury concern is Andy Robertson. They had a solid outing against Norwich and there’s reason to believe they’ll still be strong against Burnley, a team they have lost to in just one of the last nine meetings. Liverpool have scored in each of their last five matches, and Roberto Firmino has a great scoring run against Burnley, which he will be looking to extend. The Brazilian has scored five in the last six meetings with Burnley. Liverpool have a good run at home going to this game – eight unbeaten with five wins.

Burnley had a few highlights last season, with wins over Arsenal and Liverpool among them, but generally they were poor. They had to spend quite some time in the relegation zone, and this time they will be out to change the script as early as possible. It however doesn’t seem like it will be in this game. They scored early against Brighton but could not hold on as they went on to lose 2-1. That was their fourth straight winless game in the Premier League, after concluding last season poorly. They have failed to score in three of their last four matches in the league, and lost eight of 10. It has also not been great defensively for the team, conceding 10 goals in their last four matches.
