Liverpool will look to consolidate their top-four push in the English Premier League when they host a relegation-threatened Burnley in a matchday 22 fixture. This match between the fourth-placed Reds and the 19th-placed Clarets on Saturday at Anfield comes with our prediction of both teams scoring goals.
With 35 points in the season (W10, D5, L6), Liverpool start this round two points above fifth-placed Brentford. Burnley’s 13 points (W3, D4, L14) place them just a point behind West Ham but eight points outside the safety zone. Both teams are coming off comfortable wins in the midweek FA Cup games after drawing their respective Premier League matches last weekend.
There’s a lot on the line for Liverpool, who are still struggling for consistency. Although they held Arsenal to a goalless draw last weekend, they are struggling for momentum. The hosts have just four wins across their last 11 Premier League matches, while only two have come at home. Burnley are struggling to improve their chances of saving the season, with their last league win coming in October. Will that change this weekend? Liverpool - Burnley: Form Analysis
Liverpool defeated Barnsley 4-1 at home in the FA Cup during the midweek to end a run of three consecutive draws. All those draws have come in the Premier League, the last of which was a 0-0 away stalemate at Arsenal.
The Reds are still unbeaten across their last nine league games (W4, D5), although the number of draws is a worry. They seem to have unlocked the potential at home in recent weeks, as Liverpool have won two of their last three home league games.
Liverpool have won their last six Premier League games against Burnley.
Burnley thrashed Millwall 5-1 at home in their FA Cup during the week, ending their wait for a competitive win since the start of November. They had three draws and nine defeats in their last 12 Premier League games before that win against Millwall.
Their away record is equally dire, as Burnley have won just one point from their last five league trips (D1, L4). However, they have consistently scored in eight of their last nine away Premier League matches.

Liverpool & Burnley Squad Analysis
Liverpool have seen Conor Bradley suffer a season-ending knee injury against Arsenal. Rio Ngumoha also joins on the sidelines, while Mohamed Salah is still involved in AFCON action. The regular long-term absentees Alexander Isak, Stefan Bajcetic, and Giovanni Leoni are still out of contention.
The Reds are likely to stick to their 4-2-3-1 formation with Hugo Ekitike leading the line. Dominik Szoboszlai and Florian Wirtz are likely to start behind him in the attacking midfield.
Ekitike has eight Premier League goals this season for Liverpool.
Burnley will miss Josh Cullen for the rest of the season, joining the long-term absentees Connor Roberts, Zeki Amdouni, and Jordan Beyer. Zian Flemming could be checked close to kick-off for his availability.
The Clarets have managed to be fluid with their system, lining up in 3-4-2-1 or being ultra-defensive in a 5-4-1 formation. Either way, it could be the presence of Jaidon Anthony as the only striker that could be a constant.

Our Liverpool vs Burnley Prediction
Burnley have shown resilience in recent weeks, especially in the 2-2 draw against Manchester United. That would count for nothing if they can’t build on that and push for a move out of the relegation zone. Liverpool are also in need of a win after three successive draws in the league. The last of those came against leaders Arsenal, which can be a boost to their defensive problems, but the Reds are still struggling to hold clean sheets.
The visitors could fancy getting at least a goal on board, and our Liverpool vs Burnley prediction is BTTS.
Liverpool vs Burnley - Other Interesting Predictions
Jaidon Anthony to score anytime
An outside chance for Burnley to score could be led by their in-form striker Jaidon Anthony. He has two goals in his last two games for Burnley, including in the 2-2 draw against Manchester United in their last Premier League game.

Liverpool aren’t top of the list of opponents that Burnley would love to face. The Clarets have lost their last six Premier League games against Liverpool by an aggregate score of 12-1, but their last win came at Anfield in January 2021.
That would be good news for the Reds, who have drawn 1-1 against Sunderland and 0-0 against Leeds at Anfield this season. They haven’t failed to win three successive Premier League matches at home against promoted clubs since January 2002.
If Liverpool break that trend with a win here, it would be bad news for Burnley. The visitors are winless in their last 12 Premier League matches (D3, L9) coming into this weekend. The last time they had a longer winless run in the top flight was between August and October 1970 (14 matches).
