Lithuania will seek their first win of the 2024 UEFA Euro qualifying campaign when they host Serbia on Sunday. The two nations are competing in Group G where Serbia are second and Lithuania fourth. Lithuania need to start winning fast if they are to qualify for next year’s Euro tournament in Germany. Edgaras Jankauskas’ charges have managed two wins from their opening four fixtures of the qualifiers. This has left them five points adrift of the top two qualifying places. A positive note though from this is that their two points have been won with them as hosts. Lithuania drew 1-1 with Bulgaria on matchday two and then 2-2 with Montenegro last time out. The Rinktine have not recorded a win since March of 2022 and have lost 10 of the 14 games in this stretch. Their run without a win is even longer when it comes to Euro qualifiers as they haven’t won since 2015.

Serbia defeated Lithuania 2-0 in the reverse fixture to extend their winning streak against them to five matches. This dominance will have them confident of coming up victorious again in this latest meeting. A win will strengthen the Eagles’ chances of ending a 23-year hiatus from the continental stage. Serbia have qualified for the last two FIFA World Cups but haven’t been at the Euro’s since 2000. Dragan Stojkovic’s charges have not dominated in their group and have failed to win in two of their four matches, losing once. They have amassed seven points and trail group leaders Hungary by three points. Serbia lost 2-1 at home to Hungary last time out. This extended their current run without a win to two matches after they drew 1-1 with Bulgaria on matchday three. If they are unable to seal qualification, Serbia still have a chance to do so via the playoffs. The Balkan nation earned this opportunity after winning promotion to League A in last season’s Nations League campaign.
