Lille Osc vs Montpellier Hsc Prediction & Betting Tips - Ligue 1

It's not been a good start to the season for defending Ligue 1 champions Lille.  They are down at 16th and host Montpellier who are in eighth position. Lille have played three league games but are yet to record a victory this season. They began the defence of their Ligue 1 title with a 3-3 draw at Metz. An early lead was taken but after 52 minutes the defending champions were 3-1 down. After pulling  a goal back, it took a 96th minute strike to earn them a point. Their first home game was an absolute nightmare as they went 2-0 down to Nice in five minutes, eventually losing 4-0. It looked like they might get a win at St Etienne after taking a 38th minute goal but the home side scored in the 85th minute to deny the champions victory. Eight goals conceded in three league games is not what Lille need and they are already seven points off the top of the table.

Montpellier have made a mixed start to the new Ligue 1 season with a win, a draw and a defeat. They finished eighth in the table last season and but for losing three of their last four matches, would have gone into the Europa Conference League. Away form was a major problem last season with only one Ligue 1 game won.  It looked as if it was going to be a good start to the new league season with them 2-0 at home to Marseille going into the 63rd minute. The visitors totally changed the game around and left with a 3-2 win with three goals in 12 minutes. It was another high scoring game at Reims, leading 1-0 and 3-2 but an 82nd goal gave the home side a point. Montpellier finally got a win with a home victory over Lorient. This time, they went behind but fought back to get a 3-1 win. 13 of their last Ligue 1 games have seen both teams get on the scoresheet, including the last seven on the road. It's hard to trust Lille at present until they get some good results under their belt. Go for both teams to score and a side-bet on over 2.5 goals being scored.
