Leicester City’s chase for a top four place continues this weekend with a home match against Newcastle United. Third placed Leicester have 63 points, two above fourth placed Chelsea while Newcastle United are 17th with 36 points, nine above the bottom three. Leicester go to this game unbeaten in their last three league matches and having scored two or more goals in five of their last seven games. Kelechi Iheanacho has been their best performer, with nine goals in the last eight league matches. In the last game, he didn’t score, but provided the assist as Jonny Evans scored the equalizer in the 1-1 draw with Southampton. Some work needs to be done in the Foxes defence though. They have scored eight goals in the last five league games, but have conceded seven; in those five matches they have one clean sheet. The positive thing going to this game is that some stability is coming at home, with three wins in the last four league matches. Their only loss in that run was against Manchester City, and they’ve managed to score two or more goals in five of their last eight home league matches. In their 17 league games at home this season, they’ve managed nine wins so far.

Newcastle United need four points to secure their Premier League status. They’ve had a tough season and at some point featured among the favorites for relegation. They’ve however managed to open up a gap with the bottom three, thanks to two wins and a draw in their last four matches. They are coming from a 2-0 loss to Arsenal in the last game and they’ll be the underdogs here too, having lost each of their last three meetings with Leicester. In their last game, Fabian Schar was sent off and will miss this game, but the Magpies will be glad to have Joe Willock back, having been ineligible for the Arsenal clash. Willock has scored three point-winning goals for Newcastle in the last four matches and his crucial importance remains as they go to this game. The main concern for Newcastle will be defensive and Schar’s absence makes it worse, with the team on zero clean sheets in the last seven league matches, and just two in 15. They’ve conceded two or more in four of the last six league matches and failed to score in two of the six. Newcastle have one win and three losses in the last six away matches and failed to score in three, while keeping just one clean sheet. In 17 away league matches this season, they’ve won just four.
