Leicester City thrashed Manchester United right before the international break in the FA Cup, this time they’ll be welcoming another side from the city – Manchester City, hoping to put a dent on the league leaders race to the title. Leicester City are placed third with 56 points going to this game, while Manchester City have 71 points at the top of the table. Manchester City’s charge to the league title seems unstoppable at this point in time but it doesn’t mean Leicester won’t try it. After their win over United, Brendan Rodgers’ men will be motivated for this challenge, but more because they want to secure their place in the top four. Leicester have seven points ahead of the fifth placed side and they know with nine games to go, things can change in a snap. They have three straight wins and are unbeaten in four matches, which should give them the needed confidence, and in terms of confidence, Kelechi Ihenacho’s will be crucial for Leicester. Top man Jamie Vardy has been misfiring lately, while James Maddison and Harvey Barnes are injured, which has left the scoring responsibility on Nigerian youngster Iheanacho. The striker has scored seven goals in the last four matches and will want to sting his immediate former employers. The Foxes have scored 10 goals in the last three matches but have just one clean sheet in seven matches. Four of their last five matches have produced over 2.5 goals and while they have five wins in 10 league matches at home, they haven’t been very comfortable playing there this season. Leicester have the best away record in the league, but at home, in 14 matches, they’ve won seven and lost six. They’ve managed just 22 of a possible 42 points at home. Vardy scored a hat trick in the September meeting between the two sides which ended 5-2 away. They may not be able to repeat this feat but Leicester have scored in 10 of their last 11 league matches at home.

Manchester City are also coming from a win in the FA Cup, against Everton away from home. That victory set them on four straight wins and they’ve scored two or more goals in the four. The recent 2-0 loss to arch rivals Manchester United remains their only loss in a run of 26 matches – City have won 25 of them, while they have one loss only in their last 33 matches. Five of their last 10 matches have produced over 2.5 goals and away from home in the league, City have eight straight wins. They are undefeated in nine away league wins, with six clean sheets therein. City’s dream of winning a quartet is slowly becoming a reality and they will sure be targeting a win here. The big news from the club lately has been about Sergio Aguero’s exit at the end of the season and having scored in the last league game, he may be handed another start.
