Two teams at the opposite ends of form spectrum and Serie A table will clash on Friday as Lecce host leaders Napoli at Stadio Via del Mare. The hosts are 16th in the table and eight points above the relegation zone. Lecce lost 1-0 to Empoli on Monday making it a fifth loss in a row. Worryingly for the hosts, each of those losses have come with them failing to score. That should be no surprise given the fact that only the bottom three clubs have scored fewer goals than Lecce’s 24. The scene is no different at this venue with Lecce losing three of their last four home league matches.

Napoli are coming off a 4-0 loss to AC Milan that was as much a surprise as a shock. It was only their third defeat of the season and their worst, as the other two losses have come by a 1-0 margin. There’s no immediate threat to their top position though as they remain runaway leaders with 16 points ahead of nearest competitors Lazio. With the first leg of Champions League quarter-final on the horizon next, it won’t be a surprise if the visitors are slightly distracted on this trip. Yet, they wouldn’t want to lose consecutive matches for the first time in this season which is where their away record comes to the rescue. Napoli have won their last seven matches in all competitions, without conceding a goal each time.
