After the Christmas break, it is back to action in the Premier Soccer League in South Africa and among the matches lined up, Golden Arrows will be hosting Black Leopards in Durban. Arrows are one of the unbeaten sides in the league so far and head to this game on 12 points, placed sixth. Meanwhile, Leopards are bottom of the standings with five points. In their last fixture of 2020, Arrows drew 1-1 with champions Mamelodi Sundowns after coming from behind through Michael Gumede. That was their fourth draw in five matches and sixth of the eight matches played so far. Arrows’ unbeaten run so far, has not had many wins, and clean sheets; in their eight matches, they have won two and kept just one clean sheet. However, they have scored in each of the eight matches, on three occasions scoring two goals or more. The last four matches involving Arrows have produced under 2.5 goals and in the eight played, six have registered less than three goals. At home, they have three straight draws, and one win in the four played, while in their last nine league matches at home, they have registered only one win. Nine of their last 13 home league matches have produced under 2.5 goals and four of their last six meetings with Leopards have also produced under 2.5 goals. Nduduzo Sibiya has been the key man in Arrows’ recent matches, with three goals in the last five and will be hoping to start 2021 the same way.

Just like Arrows, Black Leopards have also managed one win in their last five matches. The difference though is that Leopards have lost twice in the last five matches and are winless in the last four games. Actually, they have just one win in the eight matches played this season. Leopards have five losses in eight matches and have conceded two or more in five of the eight matches but having won the last two matches against Arrows, they will be hoping to extend the good run over their hosts. To do that, they will need to improve on the scoring front, having failed to score in three of their eight matches and scoring more than a goal in just one of the eight games. Leopards have led in each of their last three matches but have won none in the end. They have drawn two and lost one – their most recent outing – which ended 2-1 in favor of Swallows. The defeat to Swallows was just one of Arrows’ three matches this season, which have ended in over 2.5 goals. Playing away from home has not been very comfortable for Leopards, as they have three losses in their four away matches this season, and are winless in all the four. They haven’t scored a goal in three of the four away matches and in the last 15 away games, they have lost 11 and failed to score in nine.
