FC Koln are 17th in the Bundesliga and need to win their final game to have any chance of avoiding relegation. They host Schalke 04 who are bottom of the table and already down. Koln are in the second automatic relegation spot, a point behind Werder Bremen who just as they were last season, are in the relegation play-off position. They are home to eighth placed Borussia Monchengladbach but have a much better goal difference than their relegation rival. Finishing 15th is their target if Koln want to get to safety, that's currently occupied by Arminia Bielfeld whose final game is at ninth placed Stuttgart and are two points ahead of them and with a worse goal difference . It won't matter how the other sides get on unless Koln can get a win over Schalke. They have recent wins over Leipzig and Augsburg but those are their only two victories in their last 13 games in the Bundesliga. Home form has seen them win only one of the last six at home. If they can repeat the performance against second placed Leipzig, then they have a good chance of winning this match.

Schalke 04 have had a miserable season and already been relegated. They have won just three league games this season and are rock bottom of the table, 14 points behind their opponents. They did win their last match though, coming from 2-1 down at home to beat fifth placed Eintracht Frankfurt. All their league wins this season have been on home soil. On their travels, Schalke have earned just four points and conceded 51 goals. The last six have all been lost with 21 goals conceded and they have several players out injured. Ideal opponents therefore for a side that need a home win. Back Koln to get the win, but will it be enough to keep them in the Bundesliga?
