FC Koln look to get back into winning ways on home soil. After the midweek fixtures, they are 11th in the table, while their opponets RB Leipzig remained in third position. FC Koln haven't had a great time since the Bundesliga season resumed. They had drawn their first two games but then lost 3-1 at Hoffenheim on Wednesday evening. Both sides had a player sent off but Koln found themselves 3-0 down after 48 minutes. One goal was pulled back but a penalty was missed and they slumped to defeat. That's left them eight points adrift of the final Europa League place but only seven above the relegation play-off position. They are unbeaten in their last three at home but the last two have both ended in 2-2 draws. Getting a point from their last home fixture was an achievement as they trailed Fortuna Dusseldorf with just two minutes of normal time remaining. It could have been a win though as they had missed a 59th minute penalty. That other 2-2 draw was at home to Mainz, a different story there as they let slip a 2-0 lead. There have been plenty of goals scored in recent home games, 12 in the last five with both teams scoring in four of them.

RB Leipzig could have gone second if winning at home to Hertha Berlin. It didn't happen though as they went a goal down after just nine minutes. They recovered to take the lead but a goal eight minutes from time earned the visitors a point. That left Leipzig in third and nine points behind leaders Bayern Munich. They are only two clear of Bayer Leverkusen in fifth so a bit of work is needed to secure a top-four finish and a Champions League place. Draws have damaged their title challenge with four in the last five matches and six in the last eight. They are unbeaten in their last nine league games with just one defeat in the last 18. Leipzig have won eight of their 12 away league games this season with just two losses. A +22 goal difference shows just what a threat they are on their travels. Their last three games have seen them score 10 goals, putting five past both Schalke and Mainz. Only 13 goals have been conceded and just Bayern Munich have scored more on the road and they have kept four straight away clean sheets. Leipzig need to get back into winning ways and can get a win here..
