Karen Khachanov vs Lorenzo Sonego Prediction & Betting Tips - Roland Garros

The world number 10, Karen Khachanov, will take on 39th-ranked Lorenzo Sonego in round four of Roland Garros on Sunday. The winner of this match will face either Novak Djokovic or Juan Pablo Varillas in the quarter-final. This is the third time these two will meet, Khachanov leads 2-1 overall, but they are 1-1 on the clay. The last time they competed, though, was back in 2019. The Russian has improved as the tournament has progressed after almost being sent home in the opening round by Constant Lestienne. He is now 22-10 for the year and 9-4 on the clay. Khachanov got back into the top ten following a win over Thanasi Kokkinakis in the last round. He was broken three times in the match and lost the third set, but powered home in the fourth. The Russian made it to the fourth round of this competition last year as well, but can he go a step further this time around? 

Meanwhile, Lorenzo Sonego will come into this match brimming with confidence. The draw hasn’t been kind to the Italian, but he has risen to the occasion in each of his three previous matches, which were all against higher-ranked opponents. He overcame Ben Shelton in four sets in his opening match and eased past Ugo Humbert in straight sets in round two. However, his best performance, arguably for the year, came in the last round, where he beat Andrey Rublev in an incredible five-set thriller. Sonego was 2-0 down in that match and looked dead and buried after losing the second set 6-0. But, in the third set, the Italian switched on in a big way. He didn’t face a single break point in the third set and clinched a crucial tiebreaker in the fourth before powering home in just under four hours in the final set. With that win, Sonego has definitely thrown his name in as one to watch.
