Juventude seem to be getting their footing in the Brazilian Serie A; they have avoided defeat in their last two matches and will hope to add a third when they host Flamengo. Newly promoted Juventude have managed six points so far and are placed 14th in the standings while Flamengo are eighth with nine points and have played two games less. Juventude are enjoying a break from their opening slump and here they’re from a 1-1 draw with America Mineiro, having earlier beaten Sport Recife 1-0, which was their second clean sheet in the last five Serie A matches. They scored twice in their opening game of the season, and have failed to hit that high again in the five matches that have ensued. In fact, they went without a goal in three league matches, before their win over Sport Recife and Matheus Peixoto has been instrumental, with three goals in the opening six matches.

Flamengo, the defending champions, on the other hand, are doing quite well and have two matches in hand, which with wins they will rise to the top. They are taking part in both the league and the Brazilian Cup and go into this game with great confidence, having managed five wins in their last six matches across all competitions. The only time they failed to win in that run, was in a 3-2 loss to RB Bragantino and they’ve played each of their last four matches at home now they have the chance to test themselves away from home for two straight games. They have scored two goals in each of the last four matches and will be counting on the in-form duo of Bruno Henrique and Rodrigo Muniz, who have scored six goals in the last three league matches.
