It'll take a major shock in this match but there could yet be an all French semi-final in the Paris Masters. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga takes on second seed Rafael Nadal in the last eight. The winner faces either Gael Monfils or Denis Shapovalov in the semi-final. Tsonga was given a wild card for this tournament and has made it all the way to this quarter final. He started this week ranked 35th in the world but his live ranking is now up to 29th. The first round saw him beat Andrey Rublev in three sets to qualify for a second round tie against tenth seed Matteo Berrettini. Tsonga caused the upset winning in straight sets. His last sixteen opponent was unseeded Jan-Lennard Struff and he made a slow start losing the first set 6-2. However, he fought back to win the next two sets and reach the last four. He won this title back in 2008 but now faces his toughest task of the week.

Rafael Nadal is 9-4 up on Tsonga in previous meetings. He's won four of the last five, though their only meeting since 2015 was at Wimbledon this year. Nadal is the second seed for this tournament but will rise to world number one after this tournament, regardless of the result. So far this week he has beaten AdrIan Mannarino and Stan Wawrinka without dropping a set. Nadal has only played in the Laver Cup since winning the US Open in September. He has been in great form all year with a series of semi-finals and finals, back him to beat Tsonga in straight sets.
