Ireland boosted their faint hopes of winning the Six Nations with a win over England. With two matches to play, they are third in the table and this Friday are home to bottom-placed Wales. Read our match prediction below.
It's been an up-and-down Six Nations to date for Ireland. They lost their opening game in Paris but since then have bounced back with wins at home to Italy and away in England. That has left them six points behind France with just a final home game against Scotland to come. A massive problem is their points difference which is 83 fewer than that of France. A big win here is a necessity.
Wales are rock bottom but did at least earn a bonus point in their last game. They looked to be getting their first win of the championship against Scotland but ended up losing their lead and being defeated by three points. A tough match in Dublin now awaits them.

Ireland - Wales: Form Analysis
Ireland have won two of their three matches in this year's Six Nations Championship. They were beaten 36-14 in their opening match in Paris, failing to even get on the scoresheet in the first half.
They have recovered well with a come-from-behind home win over Italy getting them back on track. That was definitely so when they won away in England 42-21 a fortnight ago. They are stil six points behind France with a vastly inferior points difference.
The Irish side has won their last four games against Wales. Three of those wins were by at least 20 points. Ireland haven't lost a home game against Wales since 2015 and overall have won eight of their last nine meetings.
More Welsh woe on the way?
Wales put in two miserable displays at the start of this Six Nations Championship. 102 points were scored against them in an away defeat by England and home loss to France. They led against Scotland in their last game but eventually lost by three points.
Another wooden spoon looks to be on the way for Wales, their third in a row. Their main hope of avoiding that fate appears to be in their last match against Italy who they currently trail by four points. Even that looks unlikely though.
Wales haven't won a Six Nations match since 2023 when they did win in Italy. They will look to build on that better performance against Scotland but winning in Dublin would be a massive surprise.

Ireland & Wales Squad Analysis
Ireland have made five changes to their starting line-up for the visit of Wales on Friday evening. Nick Timoney will be playing in the back row and this wll be the first SIx Nations match the Ulster player has stated.
He's been impressive when coming on in each of their three matches so far in this tournament. Also playing in the back row will be Jack Conan who makes his return after missing the win over England due to illness. Tadhg Beirne moves to the second row.
There are a couple of changes in the front row and one in the backline. Ireland need to win this match to have any chance of winning the Six Nations. Not just a win but a bonus point will be their aim.
Mee starts for Wales.
Three changes have been made to the Welsh starting XV. Ellis Mee comes in at full-back with James Botham (flanker) and Dan Edwards (fly-half) also coming into the starting line-up. Another change sees Alex Mann moved to blind-side.
Louie Hennessey could possibly make his debut if coming off the bench. Wales will want to maintain the improvement shown a fortnight ago but this is a tough task and avoiding the wide margins of defeat against England and France would be a welcome result.

Our Ireland vs Wales Prediction
There was some improvement by Wales in their last match. They even looked to be on their way to a home win over Scotland but their hopes were dashed and a three-point loss was the end result for them. They now try to get a first win in Dublin since 2015.
Ireland have won their last two matches and were highly impressive when winning at the Allianz Stadium against England. A big win is needed here but second place looks to be the best they can get this year. Our Ireland v Scotland prediction is Ireland wins on a -26.5 handicap.
