Two seeded players meet in the last 16 at Roland Garros. Hubert Hurkacz is seeded eighth with his opponent Grigor Dimitrov, two places below him. These two players are fighting it out to see who plays either second seed Jannik Sinner or unseeded Corentin Moutet in the quarter-finals. Dimitrov has been playing at this outdoor clay court tournament since 2011 but this is only his third time in the fourth round. He's yet to make it into the quarter-finals. This is the second year in a row that the Bulgarian has reached this stage. He's ninth in the live rankings and also holds that position in the Live Race. To get to this last 16 at Roland Garros, he's had wins over Aleksandar Kovacevic, Fabian Marozsan and qualifier Zizou Bergs. Only in the latter has he dropped a set. He has a brilliant record against Hurkacz and has won all five of their previous meetings. One of those was on clay at the 2022 Monte Carlo Masters.

Hubert Hurkacz will be hoping it is sixth time lucky against Dimitrov. He's in the fourth round for only the second time. Like his opponent, he's never made it to the quarter-finals of the French Open. He's only reached two quarter-finals in the other three Grand Slams. Hurkacz has won one clay court tournament this year with success at Estoril, right at the start of the European season. He also reached the last four in Rome and is yet to be beaten by a player ranked outside the top 16 on clay this year. At Roland Garros this year, he's had a struggle in each of his three matches. Qualifier Shintaro Mochizuki (after trailing 2-1 in sets), Brandon Nakashima (in four sets) and in round three, had a four-set win over Denis Shapovalov. We go for Dimitrov to again beat Hurkacz.
