Jakub Mensik will hope to put his brutal Grand Slam record behind him when he squares off with Hugo Gaston at Wimbledon. The two are facing off in the first round and meeting for a second time in their careers. We have a prediction for the match, with the winner progressing to meet Marcos Giron or Camillo Ugo Carabelli.

Gaston is just starting his grass campaign and what an opponent he has drawn! The Frenchman hasn’t been in action since dishing out a walkover to Ben Shelton at the French Open in May.

The 24-year-old has suffered six defeats in eight in the run-up to this match. He has two wins against top 20 players at the Grand Slam level and will be targeting the same here.

On the other hand, Czech No. 1 Mensik has struggled a bit at the majors and will be keen to do better this time. At the Australian Open this year, he lost a two-set lead against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

Months later at the French Open, he lost to a massive underdog, Henrique Rocha. In his last action at Wimbledon, Mensik also let go of a good lead to fall against Alexander Bublik in a five-setter.
