Great Britain (20th seed) and Latvia (11th seed) will meet in Group A of the IIHF World Championship on Sunday afternoon. Team GB have lost all their match in this competition, and our prediction is that they will struggle to change that record in this match.
Great Britain have struggled mightily upon returning to the top division, having lost all five matches so far against Austria, the USA, Hungary, Switzerland and Finland.
Team GB’s last defeat saw them concede four goals without response against Finland. They have conceded 4+ in every game to date and have only scored four times themselves in this competition.
The Brits have now lost seven of their last 10 matches in all competitions and have only beaten their upcoming opponent once in four previous encounters.
Meanwhile, Latvia will be hoping to get another win here following three consecutive losses to Germany (3-1), Finland (7-1) and most recently the USA on Saturday afternoon.
Their only victory to date in the competition came against Germany (2-0), thanks to goals from Martins Dzierkals and Rudolfs Balcers. Kristers Gudlevskis recorded 26 saves in the match.
Latvia have won six of their last 10 matches in all competitions. They last faced Team GB in 2023 and won the match 6-3.

Our Great Britain vs Latvia Prediction
Great Britain’s return to the top division has not gone as they would have hoped. They have struggled to make an impact in the competition, losing all five of their games, while conceding 4+ goals in each defeat.
Latvia haven’t fared too much better, but they did beat 13th-seed Germany fairly comfortably and gave Switzerland a stern test. They have won three of their four games against Team GB, and we feel they will come out on top in this one as well. Our Great Britain vs Latvia prediction is Latvia -1.5.
