Grasshoppers are enduring a tough start to the season and will be hoping for some reprieve at home to Sion. The two sides meet in the fifth week of action in the Swiss Super League. Follow on for our preview and prediction of this match.

A 9-0 win against Regensdorf is all Grasshoppers have to show for their efforts in the season. That was in the Schweizer Pokal and they’ll hope to replicate something close to it in the league. Going into their fifth league match of the season, Grasshoppers are yet to post a win.

In the last two, they even failed to score and facing Sion guarantees a tough outing. The hosts have one win only in the last five matches against Sion. Their start this season is a continuation of their poor finish in 2023/24. They haven't won any of their last six league games.

Sion have had a completely different start to their season, winning three of the four league matches they played. They won on penalties in their Schweizer Pokal match against Delemont after a 1-1 draw.

Going back to league action, Sion will be gunning for top spot. A 2-0 win at home to Winterthur took them to within a point of the league leaders, Zurich. So far Sion have the best defence, having conceded two goals and this will bolster their confidence.

They face the lowest scoring team and it should fill them with optimism. The last time these two teams met, Sion registered a 3-0 win. While it was their first clean sheet in five meetings, they have scored in each of their last 11 matches against Grasshoppers.
