Granada host Athletic Bilbao at the Nuevo Los Carmenes on the opening day of the La Liga season this Saturday. Granada are coming off the back of their best league season this century, a seventh-place finish earning them a Europa League spot. Bilbao started last season promisingly but poor results in the second half of the campaign led to them placing 11th. The head-to-head record between Granada and Bilbao is tight with the former winning six of their 16 matches and the latter winning seven. Granada won the last two matches and the last five meetings between these teams have ended with the home team winning. Only five La Liga teams had better home records than Granada last season. However, the Andalusian side's home form floundered at the tail end of the campaign, seeing them lose three of their last five games on home soil. Anyone with a vested interest in this fixture will point out that the most important aspect of that dodgy home run was that it concluded with a 4-0 win over none other than Bilbao. 

Bilbao took a thumping in Granada but they had been decent on their travels leading up that clash, winning three of their previous five away games. It was something of a final flourish as Bilbao had failed to win 12 of their previous 13 away matches in that league season. Bound by a club policy of only signing Basque players, Bilbao have not brought in any players for the coming season. Granada have no strict policies on transfers and have added talents like Jesus Vallejo and Maxime Gonalons to their squad. Having said that, Bilbao have quality players in their team with Inaki Williams being a standout talent. Even so, we suggest backing the home side to continue their winning streak in this fixture.
