Bordeaux Begles will be attempting to win a third successive European Rugby Champions Cup this season. The Top 14 club begins Pool 3 with a trip to PREM Rugby's Gloucester. The Begles are third in Top 14 this season, winning their last away match. Our prediction here is Bordeaux wins on a -9.5 handicap.

Also in this pool are Stormers, Racing 92, Munster and Bristol Bears, with the top three guaranteed a place in the last 16.

Bordeaux have won Europe's top rugby club competition for the past two seasons. The last club to win the cup three seasons in a row are Toulon between 2013 and 2015.

This season has seen the Begles win four of their six games in Top 14 and they are five points behind leaders Stade Toulousain.

On the road, they have lost at Stade Toulousain and USA Perpignan, before winning at Clermont.

Gloucester are top of PREM Rugby after the first three games of the new season. They are a point clear of Northampton Saints after wins at Exeter Chiefs and at home to Harlequins in their first two games of the new season. Their winning run ended when they were beaten 38-31 at Leicester Tigers last weekend.

Gloucester last made it out of the pool stage in the 2022-23 season. They finished sixth in their pool last season.
