Group A at the IIHF Championship will conclude with Germany (8th seed) taking on Great Britain (19th seed) on Monday. Team GB have not won a single match in this competition, and our prediction is that they will exit the tournament winless.
It has been a dismal campaign for Team Great Britain. Having lost all six matches to date, they are already confirmed to be relegated to the 2027 Division 1A, regardless of the outcome in this match.
Team GB were handed a 6-0 hiding by Latvia, which confirmed their relegation yesterday. They have conceded 4+ goals in every match this year and only scored four goals in total in the competition.
The Brits have now lost eight of their last 10 matches in all competitions and have never beaten Germany in a World Championship encounter.
Meanwhile, Germany are the first side below the quarter–final qualification zone with seven points, two points behind Austria (third) and Latvia (fourth) heading into the final game in the group.
The Bearers of the Eagle defeated Austria 6-2 to keep their quarter-final hopes alive on Saturday. That also marked the second match in succession in which they scored six goals.
