Some stability is coming into Gent’s matches after a slow start to the season and they will be eyeing a first leg win when they play host to Omonia Nicosia in the Europa League play-offs. After starting the season with a loss in the Super Cup then following on with two draws, Gent are on two wins ahead of this clash. The only concern they have now is the fact that they have no clean sheet in their five matches so far. They only failed to score in their opening game – the Super Cup clash. Three of their last four matches have produced over 2.5 goals and they are coming from a 3-1 win over KV Oostende in their most recent game.

Omonia Nicosia have just wrapped up their preseason engagements and their start to the new season didn’t go well. They are coming from a 2-0 loss to Apollon. Their preseason run wasn’t bad though – in six matches, they managed four wins, but this will be a different kind of game, needing a different strategy. They have three clean sheets in their last five matches, but in two of their last three games they’ve failed to score while conceding twice in each of the losses. Their away form in Europa League matches isn’t very encouraging, having lost three of the last four and winning just once in five.
