Matchday two in the Belgian National Division A will see Genk take on AS Eupen on Saturday. The hosts are the early league leaders, while the visitors are currently in seventh place. Genk will be looking to bounce back from their Champions League qualifier disappointment in midweek. Genk finished the 2022-23 regular season in first place but were edged out of the title by Royal Antwerp on the last day of the campaign. They began this league season in fine style, beating RWDM 4-0 in their opening match to take the lead in the league standings, and are one of just five sides that recorded a win on matchday 1. Genk are unbeaten in their last five home league games on either side of the break and are also unbeaten in their last three encounters against this opponent. Provided their midweek loss is not still weighing on them, Genk should deliver on their favourite tag with a win here. 

Meanwhile, Eupen struggled to make much improvement last season from the 2021-22 campaign and ended the regular season in 15th for a second consecutive year. Over the course of the season, they recorded seven wins, seven draws, and 20 losses, earning 28 points, which was only eight points better than bottom club RFC Seraing. Eupen were winless in their final ten fixtures of the season, drawing four and losing six. The last of those losses came on the final day of the season in a 7-0 demolishing by Club Brugge. Eupen played out a 2-2 draw against Westerlo in their opening match of the season, but they will likely be disappointed with that result, having led 2-0 for the first hour of the match. The visitors lost five of their final six away matches last season, scoring just two while conceding 17 in that time. They also won just three matches on the road last season and conceded nine goals in two matches at this venue. This will be a difficult match for them.
