Gael Monfils is one of only seven seeds through to the last sixteen of the Paris Masters. He takes on the unseeded Radu Albot with the winner facing either Alexander Zverev or Denis Shapovalov in the quarter finals. Monfils rose to 13th in the world after reaching the semi-finals of the Erste Open last week. That was his best performance since making it to the last eight of the US Open. So far in Paris. Monfils has beaten Benoit Paire in two tight sets 6-4 7-6.

He takes on Radu Albot who is ranked 50th in the world. The Moldovan has had to win two matches to make it to the last sixteen. In the first round he beat Nikoloz Basilashvili and was due to take on Roger Federer, who he lost to last week. However, Federer withdrew from the tournament leaving Albot with the easier task of taking on lucky loser Andreas Seppi who he beat by winning two tie-breaks. Albot has struggled for form over the past few months since reaching the last four in a tournament in Mexico. He won three matches that week but all his wins came against opponents ranked outside the top 100.  Go for Monfiils to get the win in this match to reach the quarter finals.
