Freiburg will hope to continue with their positive start to the season when they host newly promoted St. Pauli. In this Saturday Bundesliga match, hosts Die Breisgau-Brasilianer will aim to go joint top while Kiezkicker seek a first win. Follow on for our prediction.
So far it is turning to be a fantastic season for Freiburg. Save for the unsurprising defeat at Bayern Munich, Julian Schuster’s side has been superb.
Vincenzo Grifo became the third Freiburg player to hit two league goals this season as he aided the team to a 3-0 win at Heidenheim. That was a statement win, considering Heidenheim have started the season strongly.
It was their fourth win in five matches this season but the first clean sheet in four league games. There’s need for improvement defensively and Freiburg will be happy to test themselves against a poor scoring side.
St. Pauli’s return to the Bundesliga has been tough; actually, it is the season so far. In their opening game of the campaign, they needed extra time to beat Hallescher in the DFB Pokal.
Having failed to win any of their league matches means this season they haven't managed a victory inside 90 minutes. There was some form of improvement though in their last match, St. Pauli drawing 0-0 with Leipzig.
That result earned them their first point and clean sheet in the league but there’s still a concern about the attack. The visitors have scored only one league goal in their four Bundesliga matches.
They will want to test themselves against this Freiburg side that hasn’t been great defensively.
