Fribourg and Leipzig meet at the Olympiastadion in the German Cup final to close the curtain on the German football season. Both teams had contrasting finishes to the Bundesliga as Leipzig won and drew their last two matches while Fribourg lost their last two games. They were actually one point ahead of Leipzig with two rounds to play but the two losses ended their Champions League dream. Fribourg have had an incredible Cup run and beat fellow Bundesliga sides Bochum and Hoffenheim in the round of 16 and quarter finals respectively. They had a much easier match in the semi-finals as they beat Bundesliga 2 side Hamburger SV. They will be concerned with their recent form coming into the final as they have only won one of their last four matches across all competitions. One of the big advantages for Fribourg is that they have played the last three rounds away from home and won.

Leipzig will be buoyed by their finish to the Bundesliga which saw them sneak into a Champions League spot. This match has added spice as these teams played out 1-1 draws in both their previous meetings this season but there will be a winner in their third clash of the season. Leipzig had round of 16 and quarter final wins over Bundesliga 2 teams but faced a tough semi-final against fellow Bundesliga team Union Berlin which they won 2-1. They have only won two of their last six matches across all competitions but this includes two matches in the Europa League. Leipzig lost their semi-final tie against Rangers after winning the first leg 1-0 but lost 3-1 in the second.
