For the first time at the French Open, Frances Tiafoe will be playing in the fourth round. He faces Daniel Altmaier in what’s also their third meeting, and the winner will play Lorenzo Musetti or Holger Rune next. We have a prediction for this match below.

Tiafoe hasn’t met any tough opponents at Roland Garros thus far. He’s proven it by wins in straight sets across the three rounds. The latest of them was against compatriot Sebastian Korda, and there is some stability coming into his shaky clay campaign.

At the French Open he now has a 9-10 record. His worst stage, the first round, is way past, and Tiafoe can afford some positivity.

Altmaier will be the man trying to pour water on this fire starting to gain momentum. He hasn’t had a run as smooth as Tiafoe’s, losing a set in each of the three games.

However, he has already overcome one seeded player in Taylor Fritz and will be confident of adding Tiafoe to his list of casualties. The German lost the opening set against Hamad Medjedovic but recovered to win 3-1 in two hours and 41 minutes.

This match against Tiafoe will be his 17th at the French Open and second in the fourth round. Altmaier has never made it past this round in Paris.
