Fluminense are currently 11th in Serie A and only four points above the relegation zone. Their current form is disappointing and they had gone six league games without a win until their 2-1 victory at Sport Recife on July 22. Two goals from Pedro got them that important win with the winner coming just four minutes from time. At home this season they have won three, drawn one and lost two. However, those two defeats have come in their last two home matches so they'll be keen to prevent an unwanted hat-trick.

Their opponents are currenlty fifth in the table, seven points behind the league leaders Flamengo. Palmeiras are undefeated in their last six games and that includes the match at home to Flemengo in which six players were sent off in second-half injury time. They have won two of their seven away league games, drawing three and losing two but are undefeated in their last three. This looks to be an interesting game with both sides wanting points for different reasons. Palmeiras have the better form going into this match and can get the away win.
