It's not quite clear how a team that finished 16th in Serie A last season end up in the International Champions Cup. Fiorentina had a disastrous end to last season winning just one of their last 15 league games. It nearly cost them their Serie A status but they survived on the final day. Well, now they are in this pre-season tournament and began with a 2-1 win over Guadalajara from Mexico. Fiorentina went 1-0 down in the first half but that lead only lasted a couple of minutes. A second half goal from Riccardo Sotill gave the Italians the victory. They weren't so lucky in their second game as they lost 3-0 to Arsenal and a virtual reserve Gunners side at that.

Benfica are more deserving of a place in this competition. They won the Portuguese Primeria Division last season and won 18 of their last 19 league matches to clinch the title. They also faced Guadalajara in their opening International Champions Cup game. They had a more convincing result than Fiorentina winning the match 3-0. After this game they face Milan and with one win already under their belt, the tip here is for a Benfica victory.
