In a top-half clash in the Eredivisie this weekend, second-placed Feyenoord host third-placed AZ Alkmaar. This match at De Kuip Stadium in Rotterdam on Sunday will see the hosts 2nd in the table with 26 points and the visitors 3rd with the same points but an inferior goal difference. Feyenoord are coming off a 1-0 defeat to Lazio in the Champions League that made it two losses in three matches for the hosts. They have lost only four in all competitive games this season and three of those have come across their last seven matches. In the league though, they have lost just once across their last nine matches, winning the remaining eight. That includes four straight wins at home as they look to continue the momentum and get some gap to the chasing pack.

Alkmaar are also coming off a loss, having been beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa in the Europa Conference League. That was their second defeat across three matches, drawing the other. Their league form has been very impressive though, as Alkmaar are yet to lose a game this season. They have won eight of their ten matches, drawing the other two. With a game in hand over most of their rivals including Feyenoord, Alkmaar will look to make a dash and cut the gap to leaders. The challenge will be to replicate their away form that has landed four wins and a draw so far.
