Two months after the postponement of the first Klassieker between arch rivals Feyenoord and Ajax, a new date has been set for the game. Back in August, countrywide police strikes led to the Rotterdam mayor’s announcement that the city wasn’t equipped to host the match. Feyenoord’s progress in the season has been curtailed by a number of key players being out with injury. Ayase Ueda and Santiago Gimenez are both sidelined.
Fortunately, the in-form Julian Carranza is available. He has two goals in the team’s last three matches and the hosts will want to tap on his form at the moment. Carranza would have benefitted from link-up play with Calvin Stengs, who is unfortunately out with a knee issue. Stengs provided an impressive 16 assists across all competitions last season.
Wout Weghorst could make a return to the Ajax squad for the trip to Rotterdam.
The visitors aren’t spared either on the injuries front. Steven Berghuis is among the players confirmed to miss the Feyenoord game.
