Fenerbahce have at least risen from the relegation region in the Super Lig after a run of fairly impressive results but they head to this game on the back of yet another loss in the league so they will be hoping to get back to winning ways. It is not like they had a good run at the group stage; Fenerbahce managed just eight points from the six matches at the first round and finished six points behind group winners Dinamo Zagreb. Zenit on the other hand finished top of Group C on 11 points and unlike Fenerbahce, they are on top of the Russian league and will definitely be challenge for the title in a very tight race. Zenit last played competitively in December and ahead of their league resumption in match. As well as the Europa League, they have been strengthening with friendly matches and will hope to pick up fast, having won three of the last four friendly matches. Fenerbahce have three wins only in their last 10 Europa League matches, while they have suffered four losses but they have a fairly good run at home in the competition, having managed eight wins in the last 12. They haven’t conceded a goal at home this season in the competition and they will be keen to keep that run going. Zenit on the other hand were unbeaten in the group stages for five matches until they met Sparta Praha in their final group game; they have three losses in the last 11 Europa League matches and though they topped their group, they didn’t win any away win there, drawing two and losing the other. Indeed, their away run in the Europa League is really bad, they have picked no win in the last seven matches and they have three wins in 14 away Europa League matches.
