Fenerbahce welcome Istanbul Basaksehir to the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium on Wednesday night for what should be a thrilling Super Lig clash. Third in the table with 23 points from 13 games, Fenerbahce are contending for the title. Meanwhile, Istanbul, last season's champions, have endured a dismal start to this campaign, their 15 points from 12 games marooning them in 13th place. An open start to the season has seen many of the bigger teams in Turkey suffer from inconsistency. For example, despite their lofty position in the table, Fenerbahce have lost three of their last five matches in all competitions. They are coming into this game off the back of a chastening 3-1 defeat at Gaziantep on Saturday. Coincidentally, Gaziantep also beat Istanbul on their last league outing, a week ago. Basaksehir have since partially recovered with a 7-0 victory over lower-league Turgutluspor in the cup. 

Fenerbahce have been dreadful on their turf in the league of late, losing their last three home games. They conceded two or more goals in each of those defeats, and they have only kept one clean sheet in their previous 14 home matches in the league. A lengthy injury list featuring household names like Enner Valencia and Diego Perotti has contributed to their poor home form. Istanbul have lost three of their last four away fixtures, although they have admittedly played against top-class opposition on that run. Getting a result away to PSG or Manchester United is a tall task, yet the nature of their defeats is worrying. Three of the last five matches between Fenerbahce and Basaksehir featured fewer than three goals. However, we see this game being a punch-for-punch affair between two teams struggling to keep goals out. Back over 2.5 goals.
