Tenth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime and unseeded Fabio Fognini will on Sunday play in the first round of the French Open. Auger-Aliassime cut short his participation at the Lyon Open to be ready for this match. This will be the second encounter between Auger-Aliassime and Fognini and the second on clay. Auger-Aliassime won the first match in Rio in 2019 and will hope for the same outcome again here. The Canadian is having a rocky season so far. He is currently ranked 130th in the world and arrives for his 16th appearance at the French Open after his third-round exit in Rome. Fognini’s best-ever result at Roland Garros came back in 2011 when he made it to the quarterfinals. He has been eliminated from the first round here four times. The winner here will play either lucky loser Facundo Diaz Acosta or the unseeded Jason Kubler in the second round.
