Matchday 27 in the J1 League will draw to a close with FC Tokyo playing host to Kyoto Sanga at Ajinomoto Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Gas Men are in 15th place, while Sanga are third in the league standings. Let’s get into the match prediction. 

After finishing seventh last season, FC Tokyo have experienced a major dip this term and are uncomfortably close to the drop zone, currently six points above the bottom three. 

However, the Gas Men have found some form lately. They played out a 2-2 draw against Shonan last week and have now taken 10 points from the last 18 on offer.

The hosts have earned just 18 points in 13 home games this season (W5 D3 L5), but they have scored two or more goals in three of their last four games at Ajinomoto Stadium. 

In contrast, Kyoto Sanga ended last season in 14th place, but they’ve turned it around this term and could end this weekend top of the table with a little bit of luck from results elsewhere. 

Sanga picked up a 1-0 victory over Verdy in their last match, which extended their unbeaten run in the league to seven matches (W5 D2), dating back to the end of May. 

The visitors have recorded seven wins, four draws and three defeats in 14 away league games this season. However, they have not beaten this opponent in an away game in over two decades.
