Tommy Paul bids to reach the third round at Roland Garros for the first time. The 14th seed takes on unseeded Fabio Fognini for a place in round three. Waiting in the next round for the winner is either 23rd seed Francisco Cerundolo or qualifier Filip Misolic. Paul is the world number 14 but up a place in the live rankings (one below his career-high) and is in the same position in the ATP Race. The American had an easy win in round one of this tournament. He beat unseeded Pablo Cachin for the loss of only six games. He won one hard court title this year and reached another final. He's also been playing well on clay though with a run to the last four of the Italian Open. He beat both Daniil Medvedev and Hubert Hurkacz in that tournament.

Fabio Fognini was ranked ninth in 2019 but is 93rd in the latest list but down to 100th in the live rankings. The Italian first played at Roland Garros in 2007 but his only quarter-final appearance was 13 years ago. Last year saw him get to the third round but we feel he'll struggle to reach that stage in 2024. Fognini also won his first round match in straight sets. He beat fellow unseeded player Botic van de Zandschulp and dropped only seven games, five in the third set. He did get to the last eight in Marrakech. However, he'd only won three of his last eight matches before that first round win. He won his only previous match against Paul but that was three years ago and on a hard court. We tip Paul to get the victory here in straight sets.
