Everton vs Tottenham Prediction & Betting Tips - FA Cup
by Steve Ashfield | in FA Cup Prediction
Both of these clubs had good weekends in the Premier League. While Tottenham (and Harry Kane) returned to winning ways, Everton did well to get a point at Old Trafford. Now they turn their attention to the FA Cup and we should be in for a great cup tie. Everton would be in the top four if winning both their games in hand on the top four. The draw away at Manchester United has them in seventh place, just ahead of eighth placed Tottenham. There won't be much between these two sides and a key factor may well be the line-ups both teams decide on. Winning the FA Cup would be another route into Europe, so winning this tie and making it into the quarter finals should strongly appeal to both sides. Everton last won this trophy in 1995 and haven't reached the sixth round since 2016. To reach this stage, they have had two home wins against Championship sides, Rotherham (extra time required) and Sheffield Wednesday. Everton have only lost one of their last seven league and cup games with both teams scoring in three of the last four. Home form has seen them with one loss in the last four.
Tottenham have a great record in the FA Cup when the year ends in 1. Is that just coincidence or just another strange stat that keeps being pumped out, especially when the year ends in 1. Tottenham have had two straightforward ties so far with wins at non-league Marine and bottom of the Championship Wycombe Wanderers. Now for a much tougher task but they probably have more chance of success than if this game was played last week. That's because Harry Kane is back from injury and he scored against West Brom on Sunday. Will Mourinho play his top striker in this game? Kane needs time on the pitch, so he is likely to feature at some time, perhaps even from the start. Tottenham's win on Sunday ended a run of three straight defeats. Away form has seen Tottenham only lose one of their last six league and cup games, the 1-0 loss at Brighton last week. Seven of their last nine away games in all competitions have seen both teams get on the scoresheet. This looks a game where that stat will again come up.
