Following up on their historic derby win at Anfield with victory will be the perfect start to a new month for Everton when they host off-color Southampton in the Premier League this Monday. Everton have 40 points and are in seventh place while Southampton have 30 points, in 14th place. Everton beat Liverpool 2-0 in what would pass as their biggest result in recent times, in terms of magnitude, but they must move on by trying to build on it, especially after an unconvincing run at home. The Toffees have one win in the last four league matches and the Liverpool win handed them the first clean sheet in nine matches. They’ve however scored in seven of their last 10 matches. At home, Everton have no win in the last five matches. They’ve lost four, three straight, and failed to score in three of them. Out of a possible 15 points in the last five matches, they’ve collected just one. It has been the story of their season in home matches; from a possible 36 points, Everton have secured just 14. While they’ve won 12 league matches this season, eight have come on the road. They will be hoping for a lift after the confirmation that lead scorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin and midfielder Allan are fit to start the game.

Southampton, on their part, have been on a slump since mid December. The Saints have just one win in the 13 league games played since then, and they’ve been poor defensively. Only West Bromwich Albion have conceded more than Southampton (43). Each of their three wins in the last 11 matches has come in the FA Cup. They are winless in the last eight league matches, only collecting a point in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea, and have conceded 18 goals in the last five matches while scoring four. Southampton are on four straight away losses in the Premier League, and winless in six. They’ve failed to score in four of five away league matches and in the last four away in the league, they’ve conceded 17 and scored four. Defensive midfielder Oriol Romeu is out for the rest of the season with a fractured ankle while Takumi Minamino misses with a hamstring injury.
