Everton had high hopes of at least a Europa League place at the start of the season. They go into this final match in 11th and host Bournemouth who are 19th and facing relegation. Everton are four points behind 10th placed Arsenal and need to match Southampton’s result to remain in 11th place. It could have been a lot worse for them considering they were in the relegation zone earlier in the season. They had a run of seven points from 11 games before Marco Silva was sacked. A form guide for the last 15 league games has them only in 11th but that’s due to their poor away form. The win at Sheffield United on Monday ended a run of seven points from eight away games with the only wins being at bottom three sides Watford and Norwich. Home form is so much better though with no losses in their last 11 league games at Goodison Park. They draw too many though, with six of the last ten ending that way including four of the last five (three finishing 1-1).

Bournemouth go into this game fighting for their Premier League life. They have only Norwich City behind them and are three points from safety. Even a win at Goodison Park might not be enough to save them. They need to win this match and hope that both Aston Villa and Watford lose. Both of their relegation rivals play away from home on the final day, so there is some hope. Bournemouth would have loved this final game to be at home. There, they have earned four points from their last three league games. On their travels though, it’s been a total disaster. Bournemouth are yet to earn an away point in 2020. Since a win at Crystal Palace in mid-December, they have lost nine consecutive away league games, conceding at least twice in seven of them. 12 of their last 13 away matches in the Premier League have ended in defeat. It’s not a recent problem either, their last 32 away league games have produced just 17 points with 25 defeats. Can they go to Goodison and get a win? Everton don’t have anything to play for but Bournemouth struggle in defence with just one clean sheet in the last 20 league fixtures. A bet on both teams scoring looks the one to make here.
