England and Wales are set to face off for the 105th time in history. The two nations will clash at the Wembley Stadium in a Thursday night friendly match, a meeting that comes three years since they last faced off. This encounter will lack the seriousness attached to the last, as, unlike this week’s game, back in 2022, they clashed in a group game at the FIFA World Cup. We have a prediction for this one below.
England won 3-0 the last time these nations faced off. With the jostling for positions under Thomas Tuchel on, we expect a higher sense of responsibility from the players. That might not be what Craig Bellamy’s Welsh contingent wants to hear.
Bellamy’s tenure started strongly, but in recent times holes have been punched into his project. The former Welsh international is still struggling to put up a formidable team that can compete with the heavyweights.

England - Wales: Form Analysis
A slot at the 2026 World Cup is almost assured for England. For the Three Lions it is a matter of when and not if, as far as qualification for the global showpiece is concerned.
They are top of Group K with 15 points, which is a seven-point buffer with three matches to play. That lead coming off five straight wins in the qualifiers means they can go into this match relaxed, knowing this is part of the wider plan for the 2026 showpiece.
The last time England played a friendly match, they were stunned 3-1 at home by Senegal.
England have only lost once in their last nine matches.
Wales are not enjoying as much as England in the qualifiers. To them actually, this game means more in terms of preparations for upcoming assignments.
Wales are set to meet Belgium next week in a pivotal match in the qualifiers. In Group D of the qualifiers, Wales are third on 10 points, tied with second-placed Belgium and trailing leaders North Macedonia by a point.
Their only loss in the group was inflicted by Belgium, so it is only befitting that before facing them again, Wales takes on a strong top-10 side.

England & Wales Squad Analysis
England will go into this game with a few notable absentees. The highest ranking of them is the man who recently was named Player of the Year, Jude Bellingham.
The Real Madrid forward didn’t have a great start to the season, and it feels almost as if this was the cause for his omission. Bellingham will miss alongside Phil Foden, who has also had a difficult start to 2025/26 at Manchester City.
Cole Palmer is injured and will also miss this, but in Marcus Rashford, the manager can count on an in-form forward, only if he can carry his Barcelona form to the national team. Rashford has two goals against Wales.
Nico O’Reilly has been called up for England and is likely to earn a first cap.
Wales will be without their experienced skipper Aaron Ramsey for this game. The Pumas UNAM midfielder made a late withdrawal with injury.
This deepens Bellamy’s woes, as he also can’t call on Leeds United winger Daniel James, who is nursing an ankle injury.
Wales will, however, still be able to field top names for this clash, the highlight being the Tottenham duo of Ben Davies and Brennan Johnson. Fulham’s Harry Wilson is also sure to be involved here.
Kiefer Moore, meanwhile, has the chance to score in three straight matches for his country. He will be aiming for that as he gears up for this game.
England - Wales Key Points

Our England vs Wales Prediction
Wales have a poor record against England. The last two times they faced the Three Lions, they lost without scoring, a pair of 3-0 defeats. This time they return a more solid unit and will hope to put up a stiffer opposition.
However, they also find an England side fired up by recent results as well as the competition for places ahead of the 2026 World Cup. Another loss for Wales seems to be in the offing, but they can always pick the positives in the preparation this will give them ahead of the Belgium game. Our prediction for England v Wales is for England to win to nil.
England vs Wales - Other Interesting Predictions
Harry Kane to score anytime
Harry Kane has never scored against Wales, and this seems like a good game for the England skipper to change that statistic. The Bayern Munich forward comes into this match in red-hot form, having netted 18 times in 11 matches already this season.
As he is an expected starter, playing in an attacking trio that also has the in-form Bukayo Saka and Marcus Rashford, we are backing Kane to score anytime.
