Both England and Denmark got off to winning starts in the 2023 Women's World Cup with 1-0 victories. The Danes lead the table on fair play points with the same method placing China and Haiti in third and fourth place. The Lionesses may have won their opening match but it was not the greatest of performances. In fact they could have lost the game with Haiti having an excellent chance to score in the first half. It was a penalty that gave England the win and even that needed to be taken twice. Denmark looked to be heading for a goalless draw against China but a 90th minute goal gave them three vital points. Both sides will be looking for improved performances in their second group game with the winners likely to top the table.Limited Offer. Currently at Stake

England W - Denmark W: Form Analysis
European Champions England have still only lost one match under coach Sarina Wiegman. That was a home loss to Australia in April when being beaten 2-0. They followed that up with two goalless draws against Portugal and Canada (the latter being an unofficial friendly) before the not very convincing 1-0 win over Haiti. With the winner in that match being from the penalty spot, England have gone four games without a goal from open play. The loss of Beth Mead due to injury hasn't helped them at all. Their last five matches have all seen under 2.5 goals scored in them.
Denmark have three points after beating China and with a final group game against plucky Haiti, will be confident of making it into the last 16. Doing so would be for the first time since 1995. They too are struggling for goals with only three in their last four matches. One of those was scored by the opposition when beating Japan 1-0 in April. The other two goals by the Red and Whites were scored in the 90th and 93rd minutes when getting wins over Sweden and their opening Women's World Cup game. Seven of their last eight matches have seen under 2.5 goals scored. Harder and Bruun are their top goalscorers but have both been struggling with no goals scored between them this year.
